n this short animation, you will see part of the Transit of Venus 2012, as seen from Svalbard (78ºN) and Canberra (Australia, 35ºS). The sites are 11600km separated from each other. The images have been superposed, so that the parallax of Venus (Venus appearing in a slightly different place in front of the Sun's disk as seen from both locations) is clear. The "upper" Venus is as seen from Canberra, the "lower" Venus is as seen from Svalbard.
The images used in the animation were obtained by members of the European Space Astronomy Centre, which is located outside Madrid.
