The Great Gildersleeve was a radio comedy that ran from August 31, 1941 to 1958 on NBC. Actor Harold Peary played the main character Throckmorton P. Gildersleeve. The Great Gildersleeve was one of the earliest spin-off programs in broadcast history. The character was first introduced on the October 3, 1939 episode of Fibber McGee and Molly. The show greatest popularity was during the 1940's. This episode is called "Income Tax" and it originally aired on March 14, 1943. #oldtimeradio
