On 9 April 2025 Russian media reported two teenagers were killed by "Ukrainian unexploded ammunition" near Donetsk. In July 2025 a local blogger however recorded an interview with local residents who told a completely different story - the teenagers were killed by Russian land mines laid a few years ago, which were then found by a local man and, since they presented a danger to the local residents, clearly marked and reported to the occupational authorities with a request for their removal. Russian authorities ignored the request for over a year but, when the land mines, immediately blamed "Ukraine".
