Over 20,000 protesters took to the streets of Barcelona's city centre on Saturday to demonstrate for the sixth consecutive day against the eviction of the unofficial civic centre Can Vies.

The advocates of the squatted social centre clashed with riot police officers, leaving a trail of burning containers. Police officers formed a line during the protest, warning the protesters not to enter the Las Ramblas area.

Carrying a banner reading "Lets build alternatives, defend neighbourhoods", the protesters chanted anti-capitalist slogans whilst a police helicopter circled overhead.
