French Modernists Exhibition curated by Anthony Vaccarello at Saint Laurent Rive Droite

Anthony Vaccarello has curated an exhibition dedicated to French Modernist design with a selection of vintage furniture. Mainly featuring the works of Jean-Michel Frank, it also highlights some designs by Jacques Adnet and Jean Després.

Jean-Michel Frank’s radical minimal touch decorated the homes of the intellectual and artistic elite pre-war, and although forgotten about after the war, he was rediscovered in the 1960s to great acclaim. His works, now almost a century old, mixed luxury and rare materials with new ones to create pieces of functionality, beauty, and elegance.

Another great figure of French Modernism, designer Jacques Adnet constructed strong pieces often devoid of any decoration, integrating glass, ceramics, and metal to add charisma.

Finally, Jean Després’s innovative works illustrated the elegance and inventive spirit of the roaring twenties.
