Sailing Co-Ops are a great way to get out on the water. Costs and maintenance are shared among the members, making boat ownership much easier to bear. There are many learning opportunities, as well.

The Sooke Sailing Co-Op has a 27-foot Catalina sailboat that members all have access to. Members can use an online booking calendar to book Co-Op reservations or private reservations, though there have to be at least 2 adults on board for all sailings. Becoming a "skipper" (able to take the boat out for a private reservation, or for skippering co-op sails) involves some courses and orientations, but crewing is available to all. Co-op members often crew on each others' sailings.
