Russian ministry warns of... nationalists

In July 2025 Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs issued an informational video warning of "nationalist groups", who "especially activated after the start of the SVO [special military operation]". Further description however perfectly matches... the very participants of the "SVO" - the Ministry accuses them of "looking for imaginary enemies, settling personal scores, inciting interethnic conflicts". The Ministry then goes even further - nationalists do this "just because they differ from other Russians in appearance or manner of speech", clearly not realising this precisely describes what Russia does in Ukraine. Of course, the original intention of the video is to warn only of the Russian nationalism who opposes legal and illegal immigration into Russia, which had rapidly increased after Russian invasion on Ukraine but whoever authored it clearly missed how precisely it matches Russia's own actions in Ukraine. There's another layer of absurdity to the video - there's many openly neo-Nazi units in Russian army, such as "Rusich" or "Española", who don't really hide their sympathies but are tolerated because they "do the job". The video was immediately criticised by Alexey Milchakov, head of one of them ("Rusich"), who whined "why are they warning against Russian nationalism but not the immigrant one". Milchakov however posted only a short excerpt of the video, clearly unwilling to amplify all the juicy details found in the original video and likely realising their surreal character of criticising "looking for imaginary enemies" in Putin's Russia.
