Today marks 76 years since the Nakba, a pivotal event in Palestinian history, and its impact continues to be felt, especially in Gaza.
In 1948, Zionist militias violently forced over 75% of the Palestinian population out of their homes and off their land.
They attacked Palestinian towns and cities, committing massacres and destroying entire communities. Thousands of Palestinians were killed.
Palestinians call this the “Nakba,” meaning "catastrophe" in Arabic.
