Overwatch: Introducing Ganondorf

In this Developer Update, our favourite Game Director Jeff Kaplan introduces hero 31, Ganondorf, along with the first real story progression since launch. He is currently available for testing on the PTR. Have a nice March 32nd!

Ganondorf’s Stats: Role: Tank Health: 600 Primary Fire: Sword of the Sages (65 damage per shot, 2 shots per second, 13 shots before reload, arcing projectile, 60 m/s projectile speed (the same as Ana’s sleep dart or Genji’s shuriken)) Alternate Fire: Puppeteer (take control of a dead teammate or enemy until they respawn or Ganondorf’s body or puppet dies, start with 50% health, can’t use or charge the puppet’s ultimate ability, damage and healing as puppet charges Ganondorf’s own ultimate, Ganondorf’s body loses 50% of his current health and can’t be healed while he controls someone, 1 s cast time, 8 s cooldown after he returns to his body, press interact on Ganondorf’s body to return to it early, receiving damage during cast time cancels the ability and activates the cooldown, the puppet cannot be resurrected as it is considered a living player, but if he leaves the puppet the corpse can be resurrected again) E: Shadow Barrier (deploy a cylindrical barrier with 7 m radius and 5 m height, enemies touching it are slowed down to 25% movement speed and take 100 damage/s, going through takes 1 s for average-sized characters like DPS heroes, does not block enemy shots, 6 s uptime, 13 s cooldown after ability activation, the barrier parts are connected by 6 pillars with 300 HP each, destroying a pillar removes the parts of the barrier connected to it) Shift: Twilight Portals (create 3 portals 7 m apart from each other at a distance of up to 25 m, after 1 s you can press shift again on one of the portals to teleport to it, the portals stay up for 6 seconds or until you use one, 6 s cooldown starting when the portals close) Ultimate Ability: Dark Beast (transform into the Dark Beast Ganon at 1000 HP for 8 s, hold primary fire for 1 s to start a ramming attack that deals 80 damage, can be used to instantly cancel Puppeteer from any distance by using it as puppet) Passive Ability: Triforce of Power (for every 2 received damage, 1 HP is converted to armour, after 1 s of not receiving damage, each second 15 armour are converted back to regular health) Melee: Sword of the Sages

I set 2 personal records with this video: Longest time to finish and most Magix Video deluxe crashes. I’ll try DaVinci Resolve next, hopefully it can handle more complex projects without crashing all the time and lagging terribly. For this Developer Update I wanted to take some more creative liberties in the story instead of mostly copying the story from The Legend of Zelda and putting it in the Overwatch universe. I also tried to make good looking SFM animations, for example in the intro Ganondorf was supposed to be impaled by the sword and then pull it out and make a gesture with the sword similar to the one in the final battle in Twilight Princess, but it looked so terrible that I eventually changed it for just another idle animation from a TF2 character. During my time in SFM and Blender I learned that I can’t model or 3D animate and that I’m not interested in learning it either. I wish I could pay a 3D animator to animate some scenes for videos like this. Another idea I had was to use a green screen as […] (Character limit reached, continue reading at http://riolu.link/rezawrces/tmp/ganon.txt)
