Our version of this classic song. An early version of this song was published in 1922 (now public domain in the USA). There have been a ton of variations on this song -- both in melody and in lyrics by different artists, it's a blues standard. One of my favorite modern variations is the Salt n' Peppa song None of your Business which is clearly a take-off of this song with their own verses. Our sticks closer to some of the original verses, but we've upped the tempo quite a bit and changed the melody from really early versions. The accordion solo here is actually a direct lift of the Irish traditional polka "Ger the Rigger". Why write a solo part when there are thousands of great melodies available in the folk tradition? Like I was going to come up with something better? I think not.
