Nano - To change your Representative

time7 yr agoview19 views

Nano is a revolutionnary cryptocurrency. But to keep Nano secure and decentralized, we need to choose our representative carefully !

Nano is a instant, feeless and green cryptocurrency.

When you send nano to someone, the transaction is checked by an always-online computer, called a representative node. But there isn't only one representative node, there are thousands and a part of them will check your transaction.

Some nodes will validate it and some nodes will reject it, depending if your transaction is legitimate or not : they are going to vote. But all nodes are not equal, they have a weight. The weight is the sum of all nanos from wallets that use the node as their representative. This is called Proof of Stake.

Each wallet has a default representative. So there is likely a lot of people using this default node. If a representative has too much voting power, it could validate or reject transactions on its own and do malicious actions on the network. That's why it's important to choose your representative node. ==================== | Tutorial | ====================

It's easy to view eligible nodes on nanonode.ninja. A good way to choose your representative is to look for verified nodes with not-too-much voting weight and always online.

  • On nanowallet.io, all you have to do is log-in to your wallet (don't forget to use two-factor authentication), click "change", select your account, paste the representative address and save.
  • On desktop wallet, go to settings, paste the representative address and save.
  • On canoe, go to settings, select your account, paste the representative address and save.

You see, it's that easy ! ====================
