While exploring Mexico in search of the sacred mushroom - I met Natalia. Natalia is a Mazatecan medicine woman coming from Huautla de Jimenez, the same small town as Maria Sabina. This video is to document the basic items and methods used in a traditional 'Velada' mushroom ceremony.
The specific type of mushroom we were using for the ceremony is the less desirable cow dung dwelling mushroom, San Isidro. Our choices were limited due to it being dry season but the Mazatecs use up to 12 types of psychedelic mushrooms.
The ceremony took me to a world of spirits and color.
