This was written in London during Lockdown (March to June 2020), when there seemed little hope of ever going out again. We fantasised about the things we missed but enjoyed indoor pursuits instead, most of which are featured here. This song documents our life, love and mental health during the pandemic, as the chaotic, hypocritical omnishambles unravelled outside. It was inspired by a Porridge episode, A Night In. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Night_In https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00828g8/porridge-series-1-3-a-night-in
The song was put together remotely using vocals, accordion loops and a decades-old Moral Panic jam recording. Now the national Lockdown's over, it has become a snapshot in time. But for all those suffering continued local lockdowns and long covid, we hope this provides some solace.
This song has been inducted into the Song For Us national map.
