It's (not) January 11th, and I'm celebrating the new year with kagami biraki! I try to, at least. Turns out hardest part of kagami biraki is the biraki part. Also, I'm only 25% sure this isn't racist and 50% sure this isn't cultural appropriation. Look, these little mochi towers are available at dollar stores across Los Angeles, and I eat them every year. ...usually with less difficulty than this.
