We hope you enjoy this blast from the past. The opening act is Jamie and Tony playing a couple of songs before Le Beat Group Electronique take to the stage with their own blend of pub rock, raising the roof with one of their fortnightly shows. Four unassuming but fiercely talented Whitby men would rock the house, blasting 'pub rock' in the pocket! Catchy tunes, mostly self-penned would thrill their loyal following. This is possibly the first of the late 80s official bootlegs, capturing their popular residency at The Middle Earth Tavern in Whitby, North Yorkshire. John (lead vocals and guitar), Alan (guitar), Phil (bass) and Tony (drums) would blast through a sizzling set of pop, rock, country, ska, blues, jazz and more - each performer a master of their instrument and loving the fun of the songs and the crowd. Tony would play a very much trimmed-down drum kit, but powering the band so each player could soar. This particular recording was captured on something akin to a 1980s dictaphone and seems to be in stereo. There are some slightly better recordings in the archives somewhere, but I believe this to be the first one made. A few years back, Tony told me it would be great to get these bootlegs up online and now in February 2025 John has given it his blessing, so here's a taster for you all. If folks are interested I could hunt down and upload the other gigs?
