Join Nicholas and Virginia as they explore the beautiful and historic city of Kyoto, Japan!

They start their day at the Arashiyama bamboo forest, where they walk among the towering green stalks and feel the serene atmosphere. They then visit Tenryu-ji, one of the most important Zen temples in Kyoto, and admire its stunning garden and architecture. Next, they hike up to Iwatayama Monkey Park, where they get to feed and interact with over 100 wild Japanese macaques. They also enjoy the panoramic view of Kyoto from the top of the hill.

After working up an appetite, they head to a local restaurant and try some delicious Udon noodles, a thick and chewy type of Japanese noodle that is often served in a hot broth or with a dipping sauce. They also sample some tempura, fried vegetables and seafood that are crispy and light.

Following their lunch, they visit Kinkaku-ji, the golden pavilion, one of the most iconic landmarks in Kyoto. They marvel at the shimmering reflection of the temple in the pond and learn about its history and symbolism. They then walk The Philosopher's Way, a scenic path along a canal that is lined with cherry trees and shrines.

They end their day of temples with Kiyomizu-dera, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is perched on a hillside overlooking the city. They witness the impressive wooden structure of the main hall, which was built without using any nails, and the sacred waterfall that is said to grant wishes. They also catch a glimpse of the sunset over Kyoto from the veranda.

The day ends eating dinner at "Restaurant Muzi", an intimate 18-seat restaurant where all the service and cooking is done by one single person. They are amazed by the skill and passion of the chef, who prepares a variety of dishes using fresh and seasonal ingredients. They taste some of his specialties, such as w agyu steak and his take on meatballs. They also chat with him and learn more about his story and philosophy.
