Jumpers: Understanding this critical connector in IT hardware

Jumpers are favorite connectors by engineers and hardware designers. They are cheap and who does not love that, but it meets many electrical specs needed in motherboards, adapters controllers, and remember those old IDE hard drives. IT professionals need to understand the purpose of jumpers and why engineers often choose this connector. Pitch is the distance between jumper pins and the plastic device that goes across two jumper pins known as jumper shunts. The jumper comes from the 1950s and early 1960s when wire wrap was incredibly popular in computers and prototyping.
