The morning was near average- around 9C by 11 a.m., dropping a little by 1 p.m. as it clouded over. We were forecast chance of showers or flurries, and even possible thunderstorms-didn't hear any thunder here (farther south had more of that action) but the wind came up suddenly by 2 p.m., and the temperature rapidly dropped to around 0C. There was a little rain for a few minutes which quickly became snow- coming down in big clumps of flakes. It was coming so heavily for a while that it started to collect on the ground even though the ground temperature was still above freezing. Probably at least a couple of cm overall, though much melted when it hit the ground, and more shortly after, except on places where there was already snow or ice (still lots of that around- the big piles you see are pre-existing!).
