Plume of black smoke over cooling tower of Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant

Massive plume of black smoke is being observed coming from one of the cooling towers of the Russia-occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. The plant is in "cold shutdown" so there's no possibility for a reactor failure or meltdown. The cooling tower itself is an empty concrete shell that only contains heat exchanger pipes at the bottom, so there's physically nothing to burn there. Ukrainian sources explain Russians had put fire to a huge pile of truck tires collected in the tower, likely in order to sow panic in the Western media, which sounds like a plausible explanation.
