Previously managed by the Israeli military, the administration is now under the control of extremist settlers, with no military oversight. This shift means that decisions about Palestinian life in the West Bank will be made by ultra-nationalist settlers, potentially worsening conditions for Palestinians. This change is led by Bezalel Smotrich, a hardline ultra-nationalist settler and Israel’s current Finance Minister. These developments underscore the urgency and relevance of the ICJ’s ruling against Israel’s actions in the occupied territories.
