So SSI offers full control of your data but creates complex exchange protocols that require active holder involvement. NFT is an on-chain solution that makes proof of ownership more transparent and the process of verification much simpler. Vitalik Buterin came up with the idea of SBT tokens in his paper (https://lnkd.in/eQUd6wJC) It is quite simple and elegant - you have NTF-like tokens that are issued to you and could NOT be sold or transferred to another account. So it is a part of your soul and aggregation of these tokens forms your identity in programmable in a broader meaning. All SBT is public and easy to verify. You could easily see in transaction issuer and holder so no extra protocols are needed to validate tokens. You could build a complex protocol or permission layers on top.
