KNOWBODY: Resuscitation
sound, concept, performance and edit by HYENAZ 2020 Berlin
The original music “Intact Remains of an Ancient Reef,” was composed at CLASTIC European Performing Arts Residency (clasticresidency.wordpress.com). It emerged from a field recording and electronic production workshop HYENAZ led with the participation of: Durassie Kiangangu, Morena De leonardis, I Patom Theatre, Silvia Ribero, Angie Rottensteiner, Kazalište Nezamislivog Iva Korbar, and Elena Brea Sandin.
The piece was later adapted for HYENAZ production, KNOWBODY, first performed at Maxim Gorki Theatre Studio R in June 2019.
This is the staging of "Resuscitation", the section of KNOWBODY in which the body fights to emerge from the machine back into the human body.
The body is told it is a machine The body learns to desire machines The body learns to see itself as a machine The body thinks it is a machine The body desires machine like qualities The body acts as a machine The body falters as a machines The body tries harder as a machines The body fails as a machine The body fails harder. The body succeeds in failing. Over and over.
Lyrics
What the body has: pain
there was a time when I felt the physical emotional sensations of that pain
what do you remember?
I had a body I was consumed it was consumed it was consumed
I had a body it was consumed I had a body it was consumed
I had a body it was consumed
I know I can still reach it I think I can still reach it I know I can still touch it I think I can still reach it I know I can still touch it
I know I can still … I know I can still … I know I can still … reach … reach it I know I can still reach it I know I can still touch it I know I can still touch it I know I can still touch it
