Leave the crowds on Veleta behind and do this route, it's a better summit and a much finer hiking route.

Drop into the spectacular Coral del Veleta via the Veredon Superior path, cross the moraines of the old glacier floor and ascend the steep slope opposite to Cerro de los Machos (3329m). One of the best viewpoints in the Sierra Nevada.

Then drop down to the south west and enjoy the Paso de las Guias, a short 30m wall protected with a cable. Airy but easy. Can be avoided if necessary. Leads back to start.
