This is an original thankyou lyric set to the tune of Happy Birthday, created and sung (my singing wins zero awards) all by myself. The video displays circular waveforms in sync with the music, and text captions for those with hearing challenges. Plus I think the waveforms and synced text look cool, so there's that. :)
On 15 February 2020, the Northern Ireland Science Festival (NISF) was presenting Kate Lister in the flesh in a venue near my home, to give a talk promoting her recently published book A Curious History Of Sex (wot publication I helped fund, no I did fer realz).
I haz a disabling chronic illness plus Covid19 had trapped me in a horrible nursing home so it was impossible for me to attend the talk myself. After some communicatery back and forth and side to side, some private Tweetery with Kate and emailery with Chris, Kate very kindly gave permission to livestream her talk for me, and Chris from the NISF equally kindly set it up on Periscope for me. (remember Periscope, the live social video platform wot was so awesome until Twitter took it over and killed it? sigh, oh well, but anyway)
Ok, so that was in February 2020 and it's now July 2023, and three years can certainly take some shine off a gratitude. But my health makes lots of ordinary tasks super difficult and that's why this creation took as long as it did. And I thunk I might as well share it with more than just its intended recipients, so here it is.
So Kate and Chris and the NISF, fankyoo fankyoo fankyoo for extending your kindness to this random stranger on teh intarwebz. It meant more to me than I can possibly express, and I still feel the benefits of your kindness to this very day.
So, I guess I oughta thank the intarwebz too.
Intartoobz, yoo rool ok, fanx and peace homie. :D
