In this episode, I'll be taking a look at an Atari 2600 "Vader" console that was part of a bundle of computers and consoles my friend Paul, aka Universal Retro Boss, asked me to repair. The console had no video output, and upon inspection, I quickly discovered the culprit was a faulty inductor. After replacing the inductor, I thought the problem was solved, but I soon realised there was another issue - this time with the TIA chip.
With some troubleshooting and a bit of patience, I was able to identify the source of the problem and get the console up and running again.
In addition to the Atari 2600 "Vader," the bundle of computers and consoles also included some ZX Spectrums and a Commodore 64, which I'll be repairing in future episodes. So if you're a fan of retro gaming and console repair, be sure to tune in to this episode and stay tuned for more exciting repairs to come!
