fire

When we bought the house, it came with a Pacific Energy woodstove. I think its an older model of their Summit Classic, but I wouldn't swear to that. lol

It has a 'self sealing ash dump', which simply put it a chute at the bottom that is controlled by a lever on the front. You push it up to open the chute and scrape the ashes into it to the ashpan.

It's also REALLY handy for getting the stove going. Starting with nothing but a few coals, with cold damp wood from outside, give it a minute and open the chute up and it funnels air straight into the fire.

You can see the effects it has. I open it, close it about half way through and then re-open it until the end. You can clearly tell where I do which lol.

No kindling, no paper, no torch, no fire-starters, nothing, but coals, wood and air... its by far the best stove we have ever had.
