Doodling a Vulture in a Nice Hat | Multiple Media Timelapse

(Originally uploaded 7/16/23) "Sooo, not too long ago, a saw a video about some AI "artists" complaining about how some algorithm update had resulted in their prefered AI program no longer producing the same style of images based on the prompts they used to use. Analogies were made to someone like Michelangelo suddenly unable to require his preferred brand of paints or something like that.

Meanwhile, here I am doodling the same little cartoon character with multiple different tools; first an art brush, then a random office pen, then a BIC mechanical pencil, then finally in MS Paint.

As someone who took four years of Art School and graduated with a BFA, I was taught that there are many fundamental and basic skills that once you learn them can be applied with basically any tool. If a preferred art medium is no longer available, I can still make roughly the same quality of image with whatever else is on hand (e.g. switching from Photoshop to Gimp and Krita after Adobe did the subscription thing). Because I control how the image forms, and my "style" is basically a byproduct of my muscle memory of making marks on surfaces.

BTW, I'm trying out a new video editor called VN that's currently free on the Appstore. Audio is one of their default sound files."
