There are times when dogs just seem to wake up and do things that have no apparent order. This could involve barking at something that is not there or moving around fast for no reason at all.
Or they may actually act like they are climbing things like a ladder.
When seeing a dog act in a way that is confusing, and perhaps even the first time ever seeing your dog, this can be bewildering. But most of the time, it does not mean something is wrong.
Dogs respond to whatever catches their attention. If they hear or see something small, from a distance, or a noise, it will elicit a response. All dogs, or even the same dog, exhibit various levels of responsiveness and curiosity. Some act quicker than others. For example, a dog climbing a ladder may just be reacting to a sound. It may also simply be reacting to a space that it previously encountered.
In these cases, unless there is a risk of falling, then usually there is no negative problem. If dogs are repeating these types of episodes, perhaps providing them more room to move, or more things to interact might be beneficial. Things like this are common and there is usually not a negative issue.
