The March of the Torches is a student tradition celebrated in Cuba every January 27 on the eve of the birth of José Martí, Cuba's national hero.

It's led by thousands of Cuban youth who gather on the iconic steps of the University of Havana and march with lit, homemade torches to honor Martís legacy.
