i was amazed to find Patrick Cake's music while scrolling through the "Undiscovered Artists" section of Newgrounds, given how impressed i was by it. his first EP releasing that same day had pushed him to the top of the list, so i promptly nabbed it and his other songs for myself. then, loving the artwork his songs featured, i joined the artist in question's Discord server, mentioning that i found them through Patrick's music. that artist is Zilluzion, who informed me that they are actually Patrick's partner before the man himself hopped into the chat to say "hi"! we chatted a bit about music stuff, meanwhile i dropped a WIP or two of you're so precious into the appropriate channels in Zillu's server. upon the song's release, Pat said that he was glad he held off listening until it's completion, and that he was inspired to remix it into a futurebass thing (though it ultimately became a happy hardcore track), before tentatively asking me for the multitracks.
uh, heck yeah!
i gave him the files on November 25th and the guy had the first preview for me THE SAME DAY! i was very much not expecting that, but there i was, dancing/pacing my bedroom at 11 at night, almost squeeing over the idea of someone liking something i made enough to want to remix it. it meant and means so much to me. fast forward to January 13th in the new year and he deems the song finished, leaving me to master it. at my suggestion, he even made use of a transitionary line i recorded but never used in the final song: "i can't be me without your company". i rejected the lyric as unnecessary and not fitting where it was supposed to, being a lead-in to the bridge with the "da da"s. that, and it struck me as portraying a negative codependent relationship, which is not a good thing nor what I meant by it. nevertheless, Patrick cut it up to be used as a background element near the end of the song. it's really cool to hear a leftover from your sessions find a new home in someone else's. with the artwork coming in yesterday as i write this on the 22nd of February, and the song mastered just now, i'm way too excited to release this gem into the world!
i hope you all enjoy this remix, Patrick did a phenomenal job with it, and listening to it now gives me the same giddy feeling as when i heard the first preview back in November.
thank you so much, Patty, for your hard work making my song your own, and thank you to Zilluzion for the track's new (ADORABLE) artwork!! a perfect example of the dynamic between my boyfriend and i if i do say so myself. it's so... precious. haha, i'm funny.
