i've had this synth riff kicking around for a few weeks and thought it would fit for the hypothetical song i was determined to release on the us election day. i'll likely extend it for the ep i'm working on.

the sample is from a Bruce Springsteen concert i recently attended. i couldn't bring a decent portable recorder into the stadium, so i opted to at least get some record of it with my iPhone SE's weedy little mic. Springsteen made that statement before playing one of his songs, and when he did, i knew they were going in front of mine, too.

the cover art has little meaning. i couldn't get any art commissioned in time for the 5th, so i opted to take a photo of my own and sketch over it in Krita to make it look more artsy. i wanted the paper to represent a ballot or something, but i wasn't about to scribble out the names of the candidates and put check boxes next to them, i felt that would have been too on the nose. maybe the mic being in focus and the pen in the background emphasizes how i can't actually vote in this election, only write and speak my thoughts on it. or maybe i'm just pretentious, that's always a possibility.
