You are watching the presentation "Caring for living plants in the museum: An ecosophical perspective" by Coline Ardouin and Martina Pfenninger Lepage, Bern Academy of the Arts.
Presenting the topic of her master's thesis, Coline Ardouin addresses the challenge of managing and caring for living plants that are part of an art installation in a museum setting, which requires cooperation with experts from different fields, such as biology or botany. Supported by scientific research on plant intelligence and communication, she encourages conservation to consider ecosophical concepts and reflects on the notion of agency, advocating to open it up to include non-human living organisms.
The symposium «Contemporary Art Conservation Revisited: 20 years later» was held on January 27 & 28, 2022. For more information visit https://www.hkb.bfh.ch/conscare
