⚽⚽💐🌺Back to childhood memories: Nostalgia of a rainy football field⚽🌺♥️
Standing on that field on a rainy afternoon, countless childhood memories suddenly flashed before my eyes. It was almost two decades ago, when we used to play football on the field, ignoring the rain in the same way. With the inexorable laws of time, we have all grown up today, but those memories are still indelible in our hearts.
First step on the field of memories
That afternoon, I suddenly felt the desire to visit that childhood field. The field is located in the heart of our village, where it would not be an exaggeration to say that every moment of my childhood was spent. As soon as I reached the field, I saw a group of teenagers playing football in the rain. Their jerseys were soaked, but their enthusiasm did not wane. As soon as I saw this scene, memories of those days of our childhood flashed before my eyes.
Rainy days of childhood games
Our childhood was spent in close contact with nature. In those days, whenever it rained, we would get excited because it was the perfect time to play on the field. The rain would settle the dust on the field, the heat would subside, and we would go out in groups to play football.
Game Preparation
We needed special preparation to play in the rain. First, we would wrap our books and notebooks in school bags or polythene and leave them at home. Then we would wear old clothes that wouldn't get scolded by our mothers if they got wet or dirty. Sometimes we would wear plastic bags over our socks to keep our feet from getting wet, although that didn't work much.
Field Conditions
After the rain, the conditions on our field were unique. Here and there, small puddles of water would collect, which created additional challenges for us. When the ball rolled, it would sometimes get stuck in the water, and sometimes it would suddenly stop. This uncertainty made the game more fun. If we forced the ball to one side of the field where the water had collected, the opponent would be afraid, so this became part of our strategy.
Competition and Friendship
Those childhood football games were not just games, there was a combination of intense competition and deep friendship. We usually played in two teams - the north side of the village versus the south side. Sometimes we would divide the teams according to the school class. These games did not only test our football skills, but also our teamwork, patience and tactical intelligence.
Rules
We had our own rules of the game that were applicable only in our village. For example:
- If the ball hit the goal post and bounced back, it was not counted as a goal
- If the ball went into the pond next to it, the team that threw the ball would get a penalty
- If it rained heavily, we would introduce a special rule called "Rain Goal" where shots could be taken from a distance
Time changes
Standing on the same field twenty years from now, I feel how much time has changed everything. The style of play, behavior, and even the equipment of today's children and teenagers are completely different. What was endless joy with limited facilities in our time, today has become more organized but perhaps a bit mechanical.
Impact of technology
In our childhood, mobile phones or video games did not have that much influence. As a result, outdoor sports were the only entertainment. Today's children are more involved in technology, which has reduced their physical activity. However, the positive side is that sports facilities are much better these days.
Social changes
In our time, children from the entire village used to play together. Nowadays, the level of harmony seems to have decreased a bit. However, I see a new kind of awareness among today's children, which was not there in our time.
Evaluation of memories
It is difficult to express in words how precious these memories of playing football in the rain from childhood are to me today. These memories are not only entertainment, they have played an important role in shaping our personalities.
Life Lessons
We learned from those games on the field:
- The importance of teamwork
- The mentality of trying again even after losing
- The ability to adapt to adverse environments
- The ability to endure physical and mental hardship
Mental well-being
In today's busy and stressful life, those childhood memories have become a source of peace for me. Whenever I feel tired in life, I think of that rainy field, and my mind immediately becomes lighter.
Message for the current generation
I would like to say to today's children and adolescents that as technology is important, playing games in nature is equally necessary. Outdoor games not only help in physical development, but also in mental development. You too should create memories that you will be happy to look back on in the future.
Watching my younger brothers playing football on that rainy field that day, I once again felt that childhood memories do not fade with time, but rather become brighter. When life becomes complicated, these simple memories give us strength. Many things change with the passage of time, but the memories of that rain-soaked football field cherished in the heart will remain forever.
