Most gamers of a certain vintage have played Archon, a cross between fantasy chess and arcade-style combat, which was available on most classic platforms of the early 80's... except for the TI 99/4A sadly. Well weep no more! Here's a very faithful conversion of the game for our beloved TI which finally rightens that misguided ommission. In a nutshell, the forces of light and dark are continuing their age old struggle for dominance which curiously gets played out tactically on a chess-like board using fantastic and terrifying creatures with various destructive abilities which you pit against your opponent, whether another human or the competent AI. And once two protagonists meet in a square, then it's individual combat to the death in a separate arena where your reflexes are put to the test using the keyboard or joysticks. But there is a lot more to the game than that, with light and dark cycles which favor one or the other side, magic spells, and power points which you need to control to win the game. As you delve further, you will also painfully learn to match each opposing creature with one of your own based on fighting capabilities as you uncover strengths and weaknesses of each. A truly outstanding game which satisfies both the strategic as well as the action minded player along with top-notch graphics, animations and sounds. A must play.
