24.02.2022: the chronicle of a day that changed the fate of the entire world

▪️ It all started with Putin's speech, in which he announced the decision to start the so-called "SMO". ▪️ At 5:00 Russian troops attacked the state border of Ukraine from Russia and Belarus within the borders of Luhansk, Sumy, Kharkiv, Chernihiv and Zhytomyr regions. Besides, the attack was led from the direction of occupied Crimea. ▪️ Missile strikes hit dozens of cities. ▪️ At 6:11, President Zelenskyy called the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC), which imposed martial law. ▪️ At 6:46, Zelenskyy addressed Ukrainians: "Don't panic! We are strong, we are ready for everything. We will defeat everyone. Because we are Ukraine. Glory to Ukraine!". ▪️ As early as 7:53 there were reports that 5 airplanes and 1 helicopter of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation were shot down. ▪️ It also became known about the first casualties among our military and civilian population. ▪️ 10:40 two "unidentified targets" threatened Ukrainian border guards on Zmiinyi (Snake) Island in the Black Sea. The military took the defense. In response to the threats, the aggressor heard a phrase that became the motto of an entire nation: "Russian warship, go f*ck yourself!" ▪️ 12:40 It became known about the fighting for the airfield in Hostomel. ▪️ 13:00 Russian military equipment went for a breakthrough in Kyiv region. ▪️ 13:00 Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov: "Everyone who is ready to hold arms, join the Territorial Defense Forces. We give weapons to all patriots who are ready to use them against the enemy without hesitation!" ▪️ 15:00 Peskov declared that Putin was "ready for negotiations" if Ukraine agreed to his terms. ▪️ 16:00 Russian troops were advancing in Sumshchyna and entered the Chernobyl zone. ▪️ After 17:30, a reconnaissance platoon of the 74th Motorized Rifle Brigade of the RF Armed Forces surrendered near Chernihiv. ▪️ During the first day of the full-scale invasion 57 people were killed and 169 wounded. ▪️ Around 18:00 Zelenskyy addressed world leaders: "If you don't help us today, war will knock on your door tomorrow." ▪️ 22:00. For 16 hours the AFU, guardsmen, border guards, rescuers, fighters of other law enforcement bodies heroically hold the defense.
