This is a soundscape I put together in 2015, and have been sitting on for a while- I guess it's time to get it out there!
I aimed for quite a washy, claustrophobic sound, in which the sound of a crowded place could be taken on both both at face value and with a more warped sound. The sounds all came from a trip to an I
Initially the goal was to create an intense, overbearing sound which gave the listener an experience of sensory overload. Part of this plan was to record it in a way in which it planted the listener into a space and overloaded them.
As I worked on it, I started to take a more compositional approach, and to make sense of my hundred or so samples, I drew a graphic score, and worked to the visual cues. The colours are descriptive of the texture of the sound, and the up/down is for left/right balance of the sound in headphones etc.
Here is a blog post with more information about the project: http://thefunnybrain.com/2015/04/14/ice-cream-electronic-2015/
