A Quiet Place to Sit (a humorously frustrating journey by Eddie Biggins)

A Quiet Place to Sit music and lyric by Eddie Biggins

In the office a radio plays A few feet away from me. I prefer to work in silence But I'm in the minority. So all the day long I'm forced into hearing Continuous soft rock Until I'm ready to punch something more Than just the clock. Everybody tells me they can tune it out They say it isn't so hard to do, But what's the point of having music That nobody's listening to?

Oh, what I wouldn't give to find A quiet place to sit, A place where I could write or read Or think a little bit, A spot where I could kick back Away from the constant background soundtrack. What I wouldn't give to find A quiet place to sit.

I go out at my mid-morning break For my second cup of joe. Honking cars and shouting voices follow No matter where I go. With all of that noise around Central Square I can't hear myself think, So I duck into a cafe For something hot to drink. But in every coffee joint I hear the music play, Jazz or classical, rock or soul, And I'm afraid that one of these days I'm gonna lose control.

Oh, what I wouldn't give to find A quiet place to sit, A place where I could write or read Or think a little bit, I'll be happy when I've found out A spot where my thoughts will not get drowned out. What I wouldn't give to find A quiet place to sit.

At the end of a long, boring day, There's one place I long to be, I just want to spend a peaceful night At home with my family. My wife is there in the kitchen preparin' Dinner for us three, My son is at the computer, His favorite place to be. Every game he plays is full of crazy sounds That, to him, just enhace the fun, And two TVs are blaring But no one's watching either one.

Oh, what I wouldn't give to find A quiet place to sit, A place where I could write or read Or think a little bit, At 5 AM I get up, Alone in the kitchen I'm all set up, It's the only time that I can find A quiet place to sit.
