Are your jeans falling apart?
This second Reflow workshop provides the necessary knowledge to repair and redesign your broken jeans by passing down some tricks from the ancient craft of mending!
Focusing on each single part: back, crotch, button hole, belt rings, pockets, etc. you will learn how to hide holes or how to design colourful visible solutions that emphasise your past adventures.
You will mainly explore two techniques: hand darning, a sewing technique for repairing holes or worn areas in fabric or knitting using needle and thread alone and sashiko, a type of traditional Japanese embroidery or stitching used for the decorative and/or functional reinforcement of cloth and clothing.
As part of the workshop, participants received a kit with all the tools necessary to follow the exercises:
- 1 Wooden embroidery hoop
- 1 Wooden darning mushroom
- Set of 100% cotton embroidery threads
- Set of sashiko needles
- 2 Chalk pencils
- Set of mixed needles and metal pins
- Sheet tracing paper
