In Menial, the bagel Simulator you get to run a bagle store and puzzle together food for the locals. You get to know your customers and oh boy do they have a lot to tell! If this game had voice over the download would be 2GB at least. The puzzles and the bagle making are nothing, it's more like 99% of the game are dialog, and they talk about quite heavy stuff, discussing their universal basic income in the city and capitalism and greed. It is really well written and the characters are well defined but it is a lot to read! Really a lot. Making a bagle is quite fun and the soundeffects going along with that are golden. Same goes for the funny names of the bagels on the menu. The soundtrack can be changed after a day in the game and otherwise is a feelgood tune playing along. The graphics are nice pixelart that work the way they are meant to be. The timing of the walk animation seems a bit off but it works as well.

Menial is a game about making bagels and living in the City State of Ineria, a fully automated utopia.

You step into the shoes of Maria, who's lifelong passion has been the (perhaps modest) art of making bagels. What does the following of your passion entail in a world of myriad possibilities? What pressures and attitudes must Maria endure from her surroundings? What is the utopian state of Ineria like and who lives there?

In Menial you:

Make and serve your clients the best bagels using the Bagel Simulator, or just don't give them what they want; you don't have to worry about income, after all.

Learn about Ineria and it's citizens by discussing with your clients: get into arguments, help a man remember his fantastic travels, befriend a hiking botanist and her girlfriend. Travel around the city to different bagel stands.

Help Maria start her day and open the bagel stand with some light puzzles.

Gamble that hard earned cash or go shopping.

Read the news or take a nap and dream after a hard days work.
