'29P & Comet Chasers' . Cai Stoddard-Jones is the winner of the EPEC-EPSC Video Contest 2022! The Europlanet Early Career (EPEC) Communication working group gave all early career researchers, including PhD, Master’s and Bachelor’s students, involved in planetary science projects the opportunity to showcase their research in the 3rd edition of the 4-minute video contest called #PlanetaryScience4All.
Cai is a first year PhD student at Cardiff University. They are working to characterise comet 29P's unusual activity - it's the most observed comet ever, yet we know very little about it. In addition, Cai is developing resources and experiments for a project called 'Comet Chasers' in Wales. Kids learn about cometary science and are given LCO telescope time to take their own images. If their images are used by researchers, their schools are credited.
