Spotted at the end of a night dive in Gozo – possibly Callistoctopus macropus! 🐙🌊

This short clip was captured on March 26, 2025, at the very end of our night dive in Gozo, Malta. It likely shows a Callistoctopus macropus – known for its reddish body and distinctive white spots. This species is more often active at night and in shallow coastal areas.

It can sometimes be confused with the more common Octopus vulgaris (Common Octopus), but the longer, slimmer arms and more pronounced white spots are strong indicators that this is C. macropus.
